“Spectrum”
Plexiglass structures, powder color pigments
150 x 10 x 5 cm | 2025/2026

In Spectrum the artist presents a series of minimalist wall sculptures crafted from plexiglass and colored with powder pigments. These pigments are carefully arranged to form continuous spectra, emphasizing the flexible and dynamic nature of spectrums. Through this arrangement, the works evoke a sense of open-endedness and possibility, mirroring the limitless ways in which colors—and ideas—can be organized and interpreted.

By utilizing the elemental color spectrum in its powder form, the artist highlights the themes of change and impermanence. The ephemeral quality of the pigments serves as a metaphor for the transient nature of contemporary ideologies, suggesting that both color and meaning are subject to transformation and flux.

The use of powdered pigments is also a medium through which the artist expresses her perspective on the decline of Cuban society. Drawing from her background in the Cuban diaspora and her current experiences living in the Netherlands, she introduces Dutch pigments into her work. This incorporation allows her to explore dualities such as scarcity versus abundance and underdevelopment versus development—issues that are central and recurring throughout her artistic practice.
